In an interview on this morning's TODAY show on NBC Dame Maggie Smith, star of PBS's historic drama Downton Abbey says she anticipates that one day the show's writers will have to kill off Lady Violet, the Dowager Countess of Grantham. "She's gotta drop down dead at some point. I've got to be about 110, logically, in the thing. I don't know what's going to happen," joked the actress. Check out her appearance below!

As the series forges ahead through the 20th century on the upcoming fourth season, the actress shares that realistically, the Crawley matriarch can't have too many years left in her. "I've had quite enough of Violet, I should say," but quickly laughts, "I'm only kidding."

The actress also commented on Hollywood's obsession with plastic surgery saying, "I kind of missed out on all that. If I'd started earlier, doing all that ... I truly think if I went to Los Angeles, I'd frighten people. They don't see old people."

The fourth season of Downton Abbey will return to PBS in January of 2014.
